My name is Claudia Christine Wolf and I am 36 years old. Someone once told me if we’re having a hard time making a decision that’s because we don’t like what we unconsciously know we need to do. I think that’s true, because scientists say we make choices within a few hundred milliseconds. It took me about six months to quit my safe job as an editor for a popular science magazine in Germany and move to Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 2017. Everyone new I would go, only I didn’t.
I was born in Canada and grew up in Germany. I studied Biology, Neurobiology, and Cognition, worked at Universities in Austria and Germany, and as an editor for the German popular science magazines Gehirn&Geist and bild der wissenschaft. If you are interested in my work, click on my list of publications (but most are in German). My blog shows some of my recent publications (some in English, some in German).
Here is an article my former university in Germany wrote about me and my life in Sierra Leone in the alumni magazine. Enjoy!
